baffin 3/8/08

capt ken sabin (noo noo) let a couple of friends and myself follow him around baffin on saturday on a last minute trip. about 45 minutes into the first wade, my pink corky gets a tug and starts rocketing across the water to the left. i set the hook and have what feels to be a pretty good fish on. it pulls a little drag, not a lot and comes to the surface, but nothing spectacular. i get the fish close and see the size and think i have a nice redfish. then i see spots, the good kind, it's a trout. i yell to one of my buddies that it's the biggest trout i've ever seen and to come help me land her. he comes over as i'm trying to put this huge thing in my little net. not gonna happen. he grabs the line and gets her on the boga. this fish is huge and the pink corky has both hooks in the back of her mouth, but not too deep. we measure her and weigh her, 28 inches, 8.25 lbs. she has more pictures taken of her than brittany spears going back to rehab then she gets released.
noo noo takes us back to the boat and moves us over a bit. about 15 minutes into the 2nd wade, i string a heavy 20 inch trout, same corky. about 10 minutes later, i get another gook thump, set the hook, and it was on. this trout came to the top and did a head shaking tail walk that lasted for about 5 seconds. it was an amazing show and the coolest trout i ever hooked. she went 5lbs and 25 inches, released as well. i strung another smaller trout later. here's the only shot i have of her til tomorrow.

Nice fish! It's hard to beat Baffin this time of year. I'll be there the 30th of March & the 21st & 22nd of April, I can't Wait. I've been through the tackle box about 8 times already & will have to rearrange again after the fishing show. Congrats again. Those Baffin girls are an experience.
