I got this email from Hogg Tides Mom today & wanted to put it up for everyone.

Thanks to all of you involved in the Randall (Hogg Tide) Fishing Tournament. Our hearts are touched by your out pouring of love. I felt like I knew all of you. Randy spoke so often about all of you - the events you had - the nick names you are known by - you are family to him and you'll hold a special place in his heart.

I will pass on a message from Randy - what ever it means. "The drag and line living is the boss". I woke up in the middle of the night with this in my head from him and wrote it down and do not have a clue as to what it means. Donna, you explained what it meant but I will have to get more serious about my fishing to get the full concept. True, I do fish (sorta) . Randy took me fishing often. He used me as a weapon against who ever got "His" fishing spot on the jetty. He would say "Hey Mom, why don't you go over there and cast a few times." Every one would scatter after a few cast and then "Sonny Boy" would move into "His" spot. I loved our fishing adventures - not so much because of the smelly fish, but the wonderful time spent with Randy out in the salt air, the wind blowing, the smell of the ocean and the splashing waves against the jetty, the picnic lunches, talking to everyone that walked by, the sea gulls and pelicans flying over head, the dolphins that sometimes appeared, the exciting click, click of Randy's jetty cart rolling along the jetty, the anticipation of what may be out there in the water ready to hook our line, but most of all - the peaceful contented feeling that surrounded our Randy when holding a fishing pole in his hand. He never complained, not once, about the many back lashes I had (some were really pretty and fluffy), nor the many shiny lures I sent flying out to sea because I could really cast hard and pop them off. He would quietely try to get out the back lash, or hand me another pretty shiny lure to furl.

Thank you again from the family of Randy (Hogg Tide) Guthrie.
