Tonight, I will be enabling a new style in an attempt to speed up the forum. It should take a significant amount of load off of the server. Please let me know what you think.

All images will be gone, you should see no images AND NO red X's. If you see a red X, please, let me know ASAP.

Do you notice any speed difference?

Don't really notice any speed difference, but I am on a cable modem which is reasonably quick. The dial up guys will be the ones to notice speed differences. One way or the other.

Nothing regarding quick links was changed. It is still the same.

As for "Hot New Posts", its the same thing as regular new posts, just means it has lots of replies.

Yes, you can and yes you should still be able to. If you can't please let me know.

The point of this was to cut down on non-essential images.

And Terry, we'll look into offering different ad placements soon, probably. (Either on the right, or like they were before the update.) But for now, speed of the pages was the top priority.

The pages seem funny looking. It's kind of scrunched up or something. I never had a problem with the site loading the other way, but I am on DSL/High-speed.

If RC was having problems loading pages why not just have him disable images in his browser instead of disablng them for everybody else?

Can I change my "skin" back to the old style? I don't see the option anymore.

The page is squished because of the advertisement to the right, running vertically down the page. If you can't see it you probably have the IP that is serving the advertisements blocked in a hosts file or with an ad block extension.

RC wasn't the only one having problems, we have seen some decrease in traffic due to slow downs, and it is also bad for indexing the site if it loads to slowly. While we could serve specialized styles up to search engine bots, that could be considered cloaking and be even worse for us. It is necessary to do it for everyone else because the slow down was not on a user end level, it was on a server level. Each time an image is called from the server creates another request (Though, once an image has been loaded once, it is loaded every time, and majority of the time is cached.). We are on a pretty slow shared server.

This option is missing/off for now. It will be re-enabled when we move to a faster server in the immediate future.
