Woke up Sunday to a misty morning. We had made plans to drive to the lake and look at the wildflowers. Packed up the kids, puppy and some rods and off we went. Got to the lake around 11am and spoke to the ranger. Did you know that in state parks you don't need a fishing liscense??? I didn't.
Anyway, the first spot we fished, no bites. Second spot, no bites. Decided to give our new pup her first swimming lesson. She took to it just like any lab takes to the water. The boys also had a ball playing in the water.
After lunch, we took a drive around the lake and parked up on a high bluff. Took some trails down to the water and thats where our luck began. We caught all kinds of fish, drum, blue cats, channel cats & perch. The preferred bait were nightcrawlers on the bottom. Is there such a thing as a fresh water grand slam? I think I caught one! It was a great way to end the weekend.
As for the bluebonnets, just a little early yet.
