View Full Version : Old Brazos River Sunset
Here's a picture of a sunset on the "Old Brazos River", when we were coming back from our offshore trip on the BIG E, one of Capt. Elliots party boats. We had a big group of ABWF'ers on that trip a couple of May's ago. Those aboard included Hogg Tide, H2O, Kilo, RC & son & friends , BigHead, Chad, Spotsndots, Gulfofaustin, Frizzel, and yours truely (sorry if I missed mentioning anyone). Don't really care to much for head boat trips, but having everyone from the site on the boat made for an enjoyable trip. We'll have to try and do it again sometime. :fish2:

Beautiful pic! I think I remember yall going out...it was the day after the trout tourney when the conditions sucked so bad.
Yep that was the day. We had quite a few hurlers on that trip w/ 5-7' seas. :fish2:

If I had been there it would have added one more hurler to the chum line. I remember that trip happening not long after I found the ABWF.

It was fun, but a bit rough.

I think we ought to have another May Day! offshore.
3rd times got to be the charm with the conditions, cause the first two were a little rough to say the least.
The 2004 trip started with a drive to the coast in one of the biggest storm I've traveled in. The day started out rough, but turned into a heck of a nice day. I did spend some quality time with me head in a trash can.
And it was the day I learned of BUZZ's love affair with fishes,.....here's a pic of him gettin fresh with a trigger fish.
The 2005 trip on the Big E was interesting to say the least!,.....I think some of those swells were 14ft if they were an inch!
Many chuckers that day,....my son caught a bunch of B-liners and a couple of snappers,.....I got to know the inside of another trash can real well.
I must remember not to party all night the night before a trip.
I think we were the only fishing boat in the entire Gulf that day.
I'm game for another go.
Thanks for posting the pics RC. The first trip was a fund raiser for the ITMA(International Transportation Marketing Association) that Amber from the Port of Freeport invited me to, I think that trip only cost us like $25.00 a head to go out. Smelly & her husband went out with us. It was a blast even though it was rough. I'll be ready, do you want to start organizing the trip again for either Saturday April 28th or Saturday May 5th. How many would be interested in going out. I will call & check on potential cost, may get a break for a quantity booking. RC brought some of his kolaches along on the first trip.

I forgot about the discounted price,....$25 was a trip I couldn't turn down!
We got plenty of time to plan,....I'll put up a post soon.
Sounds good! Can't wait. :fish2:
