Headed out of Eagle Point early Sunday morning for the rigs near the channel, wind was blowing out of the north about 15 plus, several boats had already come back in, but being hardheads we were going no matter what! Stopped at rebuilt Redfish Island to let wind die and wet a line, no luck. Went on to the rigs near the channel found a sweet one with lots of shell. Water was sandy green, Son was fishing Texas Trout Killers, I was free shrimping live, and 10 yr old grandson was using live shrimp with a split shot. The grandson hooked up first and second on two specs, skunking grandpa and his uncle, both trout were just a little undersized. Then came the sandies! No chance for specs, the sandies were hitting the live shrimp. Wound up with a nice box of 15 to 16 inchers that were thick. Decided to run across the bay to the big rigs towards Smith Point. Water was awesome blue-green, we drifted past several rigs using live and plastics with no luck. Final run to Big Redfish Reef towards Hanna's....Zip!
Great day on the water with my son and grandson! Boat washed and fish fry at noon.

Thanks all for the great shouts. :thumb: :thumb:

Sharky Jr. has seen his share of fishing, he started out offshore about 5 yrs ago when i had a bigger rig. He has been off 40's to 50's many times, and can tell some pretty good fish tales. He has never been seasick.......i quess its all in your mind, and if you don't know, you don't know.

That's the great thing about fishing, regardless of age or whatever we all have something in common.:peace:

ahh a child with a red snapper ..... what a purrdy thing, its worse than crack when it comes to addicting. just wait till he gets his first giant sow.
then theres the GIANoRMUS mystery fish that has you pinned to the rail for 45 minutes before breaking off just before your able to make out the shape under the boat.
can you say: load it up i need another fix?

he keeps heading to the blue water your going to have a lil grunt on your hands :p
