I have two motors that are doing nothing but taking up space at my parents house. One is a 1984 50 hp Johnson and the other is an 85 or 86 60 hp Johnson. Both motors have some issues.

The 50 hp has sat up for at least two years. About three years ago a set of rod bearings broke and tore the cylinder wall, piston, and head up. A buddy and I honed the wall out and replaced the piston and it ran alright for a couple of trips. After two or three trips it then started bogging down and just wouldn't run right. Almost like it was only using one cylinder. I just took it off the boat and it has sat ever since. Probably only good for parts now.

I bought the 60 hp from a guy last January. He told me it ran great and I took his word for it. Big mistake on my part. It took a $500 trip to the shop just to keep it running. I put the motor on my boat for a test spin and everything went well. The next weekend I took it out and it started acting up. On the way back to the dock I was cruising and the rpms just went down suddenly. Everytime I tried to give it some throttle the motor would die so we idled back to the ramp. It sat for a couple of weeks and someone told me my high speed jets might be clogged so I took it back to the shop. They cleaned the carbs but when I took the boat out it was doing more of the same. If it is hooked up to the hose it will run and shift fine but once it is the water and you try to shift, it will just cut off. I 'm through messing with it now. Someone that knows a little about motors could probably get it running right.

MAKE ME AN OFFER
Was hoping to get at least $50-100 for the 50 hp (white motor) and at least $300 for the 60 hp (black motor)

If I don't sell them they are just going to sit for years to come.

I live here in WC also and I would like to see the white one. Give me a call at 345-5917. I just need the mounting bracket and tilt motor if it is the right size.
