Unfortunately the surf was still up from the storm we got there on Friday so we couldn't fish the surf like we wanted to. But we had high hopes since we had booked a guide on Sat. They were also dashed because our guide really only knew where to go in the surf and did not fish the bay that much. We ended up with six trout for over ten hours on the water. The guide caught four of the fish early and I caught the last two right before we stopped fishing. The guide and I also caught about 4 dinks and I also hooked three slimers, just what I was targeting with croakers. The other three guys in the boat did not catch a fish. I can't be too mad at the guide because the fishing was tough. I talked to a TPW survey person and he did not see a boat limit all day. The most trout he saw in a boat was 20 and that was from a guide that fishes 200 days out of the year. The moral to this story is always go with a full time guide not just a weekend guide. The guide did take us everywhere and was willing to stay out as long as necessary but the other three were not too interested after not catching a fish all day. I don't know how they find fish down there anyway, everywhere looked very fishy. It was quite different than the beautiful brown of Galveston.
