Well,
We went fishing on a saturday, I slept half the day sunday, I cleaned the boat till 6, then I got in the truck and left for a work convention for almost a week
Im a bit late on my report for Saturday 7/15. But here goes..
My wife couldnt stand not going offshore anylonger, and said "we're go'n". So I contacted a friend and he said he would meet us at buckys at 6. Well, it was 6:30 and he never showed. So, My wife and I just went ourselves. We didnt drop anchor a single time. Since she is gettin over her operation and really wasnt suppose to be strainin' I just took it easy and drifted alot. Thank goodness the Water was reallllll nice. Stopped at a couple of spots inshore of the Charlie hole. Lots of snapper, but none with much size. Got to Charlies and it was realllll crowded. Im guessing 15 boats or so. We stayed on the far outside. That dang water was so clear, im guessing you could see 30-40 ft down. Same result, lots of fish but smaller. Put the boat in gear and went out close to the W27s and got on the fish. We didnt catch any sows, but some nice eat'n size snapper. I finally lost my $25 green jiggin jig i bought at buckys. I caught about 5 AJ's with it on this trip, and finally hooked into one that got me tangled in the wreck. Oh well, It was a good lure. I put another one on that was blue but they didnt like it like the green one. I got me a 6-1 ratio penn 535 reel at the freeport pawn shop. That higher gear ratio did seem to help. If you havent tried it, its fun if your where the fish are, but it dang sure wears me out pretty quick :-)
It was sooooo hot out there. My wife had to sit down to rest, She basically caught both our limits in snappers in about 160-165' of water while I was jiggin. I let her try her hand at jiggin, but it was just to tiring for her on this trip. So I decided to troll back to the 22 1/2s which is about 6 miles. I put out a diving rapalla and another one I cant think of the name. I have a couple of hits but no takers. About that time, reeeellllllllllllllllllllllllllll Thank goodness for a smooth drag. To make a long story short, I put the first wahoo of the season on the boat. Made my trip and day  I imagine we could have caught a passel of dolphin (mahi mahi), quite a few times they were around the boat, but it was just to hot to mess with them at the time, or at least I felt like it was . :frusty:
We finished up at the 22 1/2s along with about 10 other boats and headed in. As I was passing the 32's I counted around 15 boats. Got into bridge bait about 3:30 and it was a absolute parking lot on the water. Los Dorado guide service had just unloaded about 20 black fin up to nearly 30#'s they caught behind a shrimp boat. We had to wait a couple of hours, but we got our fish filletted and baged. We ended up with two full limits of nice snapper and the wahoo, released the AJ's, caught I dont know how many sharks that i didnt want on the boat. We had a mess of fillettes
Other than the absolutely scorching heat when we werent moving, we had a great trip, just the two of us.
Im so glad my wife likes to fish
If I had a suggestion for anyone going on these no wind, smooth water days it would be to pace yourself and stay wellllll hydrated.
Till next trip

PS-I finally got a picture taken with a fish... yeaaaa and theres a mistake on the picture, it was a black and purple rapalla magnum not a black and white
