Topwater bite was on again... No boat idiots making noise, good weather, and clean water made for perfect conditions to sneak up on them. Lost some big girls but managed to catch my limit with 4 trout just under 25" . Bone SS Jr.

We can catch fish as long as the boat buzzards don't pull up on us. It makes for a bad day when someone pulls up drops a dead shrimp in the water doesn't catch anything then picks up and leaves. The fish are then gone and all we can do is make the long wade back to the boat and try a plan "B". We go through extremes to keep all the noise down. We park the boat on a far away sandbar and walk across to the other side and then wade to the hole. Then it's just a matter of luck. Luck that no boats make a stop on us. A few weekends back we had just gotten to the spot. The water was perfect and the bait was busting everywhere. The boat buzzards were cruising by watching our every move. Like always we started playing the hide the fish game. Rods under water while fighting fish and stringers of fish kept under water. I had a good fish on that was making my Laguna III bend to the max and still pulling drag. I had no choice but to make a display for the buzzards. Then here he comes, the weekend warrior that we love to hate. This guy has his eyes locked on me:shocked: . I'm trying to wave him on and my buddy is yelling at him but to his never mind he pulls up and drops a 10 pound anchor with 5 foot of chain within casting distance:doh: . The whole time watching as I fight this trout in:eek2: . My buddy is furious and so am I. My buddy yells. "HEY MAN we are fishing right there where you just dropped your anchor". This guy is clueless. He shrugged his shoulders a couple of times and says "OH SORRY". I've seen it play out like this so many times. I know these guys just don't know any better and he may never do that again. I just hate the fact that his lesson costs us our whole trip. The fish are always there and we catch them until the boats arrive. We've been burned so many times on the weekends that we just leave it for weekdays now.

8UP Bring you a couple bags of freetos. smash them up & slick an area or 2 before you anchor the boat away from where you are going to fish. leave it to the birds to call in the boat buzzards in. That should give you a little xtra time fishing. Works for me!
Cheers! :merry:

I do that in the Fall when the birds start working. If someone starts being goofy and busting up the birds I'll break out the crackers. LOL... It's works so good too.

Thanks for the report AUP. We were there this weekend and we caught fish in that same area. Boats screwed us a lil on Saturday.

They're just fat fish... I haven't found a single egg in one from there yet.
