I left west Houston this morning at 4:30 and hit access 2 before sunrise. I started out with a silver spoon with not action. Once the sun came up I noticed all the bait was right behind the first sand bar & the dolphins were working the second bar. I switched to a super spook & had a blow up on my first cast 10 feet away from me!!! All of a sudden I was not COLD anymore. I landed one 16" speck and lost one other before switching to other lures. That was the only action for me. I packed up & headed to work on the North West side of Houston at 7:45. I would have loved to stay, but I had to make some money to feed my 250 horses this weekend. :) The gentlemen to my right caught 3 on soft plastics & 2 were keepers. I donated my 16" to him. He had just caught some mullet in his cast net to give them a try as I was leaving. There was one other guy to my left that had one fish on his string. The action was slow & all 3 of us had the bites between 6:30 & 7:00. The water was FLAT & sandy/clearish. There was maybe 2' visibility.
To the gentleman that I donated my fish, if you read this site, how did you do on the mullet?
