Playing Hookie with my Sweetie!

Well after hearing reports from Surfside on trout in the surf, I decided to play hookie today after watching the weather reports. It just so happened that Mrs Dipsay had the day off as well. I SWEAR I HAD NOT PLANNED THIS! Anyhow, with the light north winds we've had I figured that the surf would be flat and green, and bot was I right! Green to the beach and NO WAVES!Flat as a pancake. We headed off this morning and kicked the kids off at daycare at 6:30am. They didnt open any earlier or else we would've been in the water at first light, and yes we stopped the car to let them out!:pound: Got down to the surf in Galveston with shrimp in tow at 8:30. One other guy was there at 6:30 ,but he said they didnt turn on till we got there. Call this good timing or we just brought the JUJU! Anyhow, after 20min of getting situated between the first and second gut. BOOM, Speck on! A small one 15" Mrs Dipsay followed with a 16":mad: GAME ON! when it got hot it got hot. At one point I was trying to untie a massive birdnest and watching our corks float close together. BOOM! Her cork went under folowed by a top water blowup on the cork! My cork went right after that. Unfortunately, I was still untying and MrsDipsay's got off. We ended the day with 10 total. 6 Specks 2(15), 3(16), and 1(17), and 4 Whiting. Mrs Dipsay also had a nice drum on right at her feet, but it got off as well. It shut down around 11 or so. This is one of the best days I've had in a long while. I really enjoyed the fishing with the woman I love more than life itself. A picture perfect day. Now I just hope my boss doesnt read this post!:roflmao: :roflmao: I'll just explain it like this. It was like having a free pass to golf (which I dont and he does) Augusta and this day only. He'll understand.... Much love peeps!

Great going!! If only I was a little closer to the coast, I'd have been right there with you. I've been watching the surf cams too. It's been making me ill seeing the flat surf and not being there for it. It's flat again today. Hope somebody gets out there this morning.
